At the end of July 2020, according to the South Korean media "News1", Samsung Electronics ranked eighth in the "World's most Valuable Brand" by the Us economic magazine Forbes.

Samsung's brand value was said to be $50.4 billion (5.3 trillion yen), down 5 percent from last year ($53.1 billion). It also dropped one place (seventh) from last year.

However, the article gave it a high rating: "Given the fact that American companies monopolize the first to seventh places, Samsung is generally recognized as the largest non-American company in terms of brand value."

Every year, Forbes announces the top 100 global brands based on the three-year profits of about 200 companies and their position in the industry.

Chosen to take the top spot this year was Apple, with $241.2bn (up 17 per cent from last year). It was followed by Google, Microsoft, amazon, Facebook, Coca-Cola and Disney.

Toyota, with $41.5 billion in assets, ranks 11th among Japanese companies. It was ranked ninth last year, but this year it dropped out of the top 10 after losing 7% of its brand value.

Huawei, a Chinese company worth $8.5 billion, ranks 93rd, making it the only Chinese company in the global top 100.
